Photo caption from published July 2, 1970 version of 70-06-07_001: "CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION. Contrasting with the newness of the campus, attractive rustic fence has been installed around pay-as-you-park lot west of Arts Library Building. Probably fashioned by pioneer Waterloo County farmer many decades ago, these weathered split cedar rails have become extremely sought after, and costly. Cost to the University was nil, since rails were salvaged from former farm fences on both south and north campuses. Rails are expected to be offered for sale next spring when construction starts on Student Services Building. Oh, yes - the young lady whose charm enhances the fence considerably in this picture is Bobbi Handley secretary."
