Abstract: 87-01-12_001 appeared on Page 5 of the Wednesday, February 4, 1987 edition of the Gazette (v. 27, n. 21) as part of the article: "Library finds ways to save old books". No caption ran with the photo.
Item description: Image of five books open on a table top displaying different types of condition issues. The books include highlighting, underlining, marginalia and pages torn from the spine. A book at the front of the display, being held open by a pair of hands, features the remains of a decomposing sandwich.
