Note from Kyoko Kawashima: "Flower seller (Morning Glorys). The sign is in early Japanese characters "Kalakana" is "milk". Read from right to left in those days. Since W.W.II reading is from left to right and it would read walnut!. The sign poster on inside of window reads "To Rent".
