Photo caption accompanying four photos: "FOOD PRICES 1939 AND NOW - Two dollars will not buy very much today. Top left [missing from envelope] shows what you could purchase in groceries in September 1939, for $2, while photo at right [47-505_001] shows what you can buy today for the same amount. The 1939 group today would cost $4.99. Meat, too, has increased sharply in price. A 1939 $2 purchase is at lower left [missing from envelope] while the photo at right [missing from envelope] shows that $2 doesn't stretch nearly so far today."
